The opposition MMD has disowned its former Kaoma Central Member of Parliament, Austin Liato. Party National Secretary, Major Richard Kachingwe has suspended Mr. Liato from the party and his position in NEC until he is cleared by law enforcement agencies. Major Kachingwe says he has learnt with great shock the discovery of 2.1 Billion Kwacha at Mr. Liato’s farm. He claims the party has no details than what has been provided by the investigative wings on the seizure of the funds. Major Kachingwe however says the party will cooperate with investigative wings and will be quick to point out when it’s political persecution. This is contained in a statement made available to MUVI TV News. Mr. Liato was MMD national Chairperson for Labour. The MMD in the last tripartite elections put up one of the most extravagant campaigns in the country’s history. Despite Mr. Liato failed to retain his Kaoma seat.
