Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Minister Given Lubinda says the merging of the information and tourism ministry will enhance the marketing of Zambia’s tourism attractions. Mr Lubinda says President Michael Sata combined the two ministries to ensure that information and broadcasting provide a marketing platform for the tourism sector. He was speaking in Lusaka Tuesday night during the belated commemoration of the World Tourism Day. Celebrations were supposed to be held on September 27 but were postponed due to the tripartite elections. Mr Lubinda has also challenged journalists to help market Zambia’s tourism attractions by writing articles on Zambia’s culture, history and the people. The theme for the world Tourism day is ‘Tourism Linking cultures’. Meanwhile, Mr Lubinda says Zambia and Zimbabwe’s successful joint bid to host the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly in 2013 is no mean achievement. He says the two neighbouring countries were competing against countries such as Russia, Turkey, Qatar and Jordan.
