Police in Luwingu district of Northern Province have released the 15 grade 12 pupils of Luwingu high school who were arrested for riotous behavior four days ago. This was after the police recorded warn and caution statements from the 15 pupils. Luwingu District Commissioner Dickson Mumbi disclosed to ZANIS in an interview that all the 15 grade 12 pupils were released by police to enable them sit for their final examinations. Mr. Mumbi said the 15 Luwingu high school pupils were arrested for their involvement in riots that resulted in the destruction of school property worth millions of Kwacha. He said the riot was sparked by teachers at the high school who allegedly confiscated learning materials from the pupils which included text books and past papers.
